The speaches of all the cultures in different regions vary extently , if from a races history, the traditions of certain trades and alot of other factors.
There are many variants that are easely understandable, at least to a basic point, in beteen such as the dialects variants between Kelathi and Gangaerin. Others are completely alien to eachother and require separat skills to at all be comprehended.
Common, will be asumed to be spoken by any standard PC , and will have a further explanation below.
Here follows the core of languages in the near areas:
Human originated languages:
-Common (Altunga/Kelgang/Common Hiris):
This is a term for the general speach that every adventuring PC will get for free. Its origin is that of a mix.
Alot of its oldest foundation is from Elven toungue, but on the large it is the language of humans. Gangaerin and Kelathi as well as Northern tribes has contributed to it. Its more structural writings as well as some of it words originate from the south and the Hellna.
On sound and prenounciation would be familiar with our english if with deeper toning on long vowels.
Sample of words: furia: guard, prevent, fortify against; fur: fort or watch; hin-hni: detect, percept or sight; Hiris: man, human (hira: female); na-nani: negative, not or un-(something); noris: Night, Sleep, rest or peace; rin-rinen: river, flowing or water source; Tiri-tir: tall, towering or tower.
-Gangaerina:
This language is the common tounge in Gangalin. It is halfy understandable with knowledge in common. The Gangaerin very often use Gangaerina for writings of importance, and it is concidered to be a language that thoose of any claims history should know. This apply only to members of the gangarein people , even if a dwarf talking it would flatter the citisens of Tarngaeth to blushing.
Spoken Ganagerina is more flat and static than common but not completely alien.
-Kildig:
A variant of common, grown from the more isolated tribes of Kelathi. It uses its own alpabet but is not entirely foreign when spoken to one who knows common. Alot of druids know and use this language. Especially thoose with origin of the kelathi druid tradition.
-Helvena:
Spoken in the south nations and spread north with the city of Gwenea. It has remained a respected language amongst clerics of their pantheons and with scolars.
-Che´Kha (Ostunga)
East of Egina and onwards across the widespread plains a language that has no apparant similarities what so ever with common is spoken by the people that live there. Although very different from region to region with the small tribal or clan-holds, quite possibly separat languages, they have a similar structure both in spoken words and with its written symbols.
In the city of Egina both Ostunga and Altunga is commonly spoken and used for signs. Yet another adition to this chaotic blend of cultures within its walls.
Fae derived languages:
- Fae'st:
The corrupted remnant that grew from elfs and men far away from the elven depths and the half elfs that were the result of it. It is a bardic favorit language that has a certain fit to songs of magic and games with words, thus it remains in knowledge with even a few humans who like lyrics and art. Elflings of certain regions speak Fae'st as their first language.
Gnome and Dwarf speach:
-Curin(Curinig)
The far origin of this language is somewhat clouded in mystery but it ows it present name to the Curin-dwarfs or the Curiniri. It was known as the rough edged speach they both used.
It is well known however that gnomes have used it, and still do to some extent.
Its written form is as beautifull as it is simple and has always been a favored choise for inscribing priced metalworks or other crafts of similar type. As much as for its simplicity as for the common apreciation of dwarven craftmanship.
-Ord
In its own meaning the name for this language means simply word. An isolated language found in the far north and in the deep depths of underground realms.
This is the language of the rarely seen Odris-Dwarfs, but oddly enough also commonly found spoken, with a dreadfull accent, among Orcas of the north- east, and ancient powerfull relics tend to be incribed with Ord. Although not as simple and refined as Curin its runelike symbols make for easy writing in stone or metals.
