I hate to nip pick, but AD&D is a lot different than D&D. But I mean that in a good way. D&D is easier, much easier and is based around more RPing than dice rolling. Even though I tend to let the dice do a lot of the talking. (Metaphorically, not literally. That would be a site to see though.) That is what the A in AD&D is for anyway. If you can handle AD&D, then D&D should be easy as cake for ya.
Good is always a matter of opinion. I try my best, and hope people like the games I run. As a DM, I tend to not try to be malicious towards the characters. However, if the players do foolish things, I won't hesitate in making them pay. But compairing the games I've been in so far for openRPG, I would like to think my style is superior.
I will give a little hint. All situations can result in combat, most situations combat can be avoided. I will give out bonus EXP if the players succeed at role playing out of a potential combat situation. Hack and slashers need not apply. This doesn't mean that every situation has a chance for a peaceful resolution. There will be plenty of chances to kill. Some monsters can't be reasoned with. But sometimes a ravenous, drooling, thin as a bone kobold just needs a bite to eat.
I also like to keep the group together. There WILL be situations where a single individual will not survive without the help of the group. I don't see the point of having a gaming group if one of the players always has his character in the tavern hitting on women all night. Sometimes the group may be separated, but don't count on it happening often.
Next point is alignment. I personally do not mind chaotic characters, however in this campaign it would be rather difficult to accurately play an evil character.
It would seem that Thursday is the most popular day to play. Since I'm taking my summer break during the winter I don't care when we play.
I'd like one more player, but there is no reason to wait while we get other things started.
First thing I need from everyone is what are your ability scores.
I am using a common system from d20 games so players are rather even and that is the point system. 3rd ED AD&D uses 25 points if my memory is correct. With the differences in ability modifiers in D&D, players use 32 points for this game. (I'm typing this out to help possible new people)
Characters start all abilities at 8
and can use their points in this fashion:
Ability score --Points used
8 - 0
9 - 1
10 - 2
11 - 3
12 - 4
13 - 5
14 - 6
15 - 8
16 - 10
17 - 13
18 - 16
All I need now is your ability scores, choose a class, and go shopping. All characters start will 100 Gold. If you don't know the list prices of things, then just shop for things you want, and I will tell you how much over or under you are.
Classes:
Cleric
Fighter
Mage
Thief
Dwarf
Elf
Halfling
(Note: This is a D&D game, there is no such thing as a elf/thief or dwarf/mage, it is one or the other)
I will make the nodes with your ability modifiers etc.
If anyone feels ambitious then can meet me in openrpg and I will send you the default node I have created for the adventure and you can plug in your own things.
You can either post your characters info in this topic, meet me in openrpg, msg me on AIM (DeepThund), message me on YIM (DeepThund) or PM them to me.
I think that is all for now. I want to take this slowly at first.
